According to Chris Hemsworth, Thor’s franchise urgently needs a man as director Tyka Whiteytie. The actor told enthusiastically how he exhausted himself to play the god of thunder on the big screen before the Marvel studio merged with Whitey for Thor: Ragnarok. While the previous two contributions had been successful at the box office and had only had moderate success with the critics, Hemsworth started to find the whole thing rather boring and felt that a big change was needed to move forward.
In a new interview about mining, Chris Hemsworth looks back on the origins of Thor: Ragnarok and collaboration with Taika Vaititi. The third part of the series is a sharp left turn from what was there before. He was bright, colorful, unpredictable and funny. God of Thunder, thanks to Vaititi’s advice and imagination, this time he was surrounded by jokes and humorous characters. Hemsworth had a say in the cooperation with the director.
POWERFUL: Thor: Director Love and Thunder sees the downside of postponing his resignation
He’s hilarious. But don’t confuse this childish, crazy energy with someone who isn’t ready yet. It is a fairly unique combination, which she is able to guide you through the process in a relaxed environment with humor, but also armed with all the knowledge the director has to guide you through the process. And this at a time when I desperately wanted more humour in my character.
While some fans of Marvel Cinematic Universe prefer the old, thoughtful version of Thor, the fun version, which helped create Tyka Vaititi, had a lot more to offer. When Ragnarök entered the halls, many had the impression that this would be the last match. Shortly afterwards, however, Whiteytie and Chris Hemsworth started exchanging private ideas and slowly admitted to the audience that a sequel was possible, while being cautious and promising nothing.
Thor: The official announcement of Love and Thunder was made last summer, just before Taika Waititi got a new boost of creative energy and some important prizes. The director works almost non-stop and last year he managed to re-launch the Star Wars franchise with the Mandalorian and released his Oscar-winning film Rabbit Jojo. I was certainly happy for him when he won, and it was a very special moment, Chris Hemsworth says, although he admits he didn’t see any of the other films his friend was against.
In addition to a number of his own projects, Tyka Vaititi will also officially shoot his own Star Wars film. Since the premiere of the film Mandalorian there have been rumours about it, but last week the director and Lucas film confirmed it definitively. Everybody knows what this movie is about. But it is very likely that he will show some of the same qualities that brought him to this point, including seriousness and thoughtfulness to take the humour back. The interview with Chris Hemsworth was originally conducted by the Australian company GQ.
